The Playschool Learning Laboratory serves children ages 3-5 years old. Playschool is a fantastic choice to ease a child's transition into Kindergarten. The program runs 9:45 a.m.-12:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Fridays from Mid-September to the beginning of May. A healthy snack is prepared and served to the children each day. We are very excited to be celebrating year 5 in the new Blacksburg High School building.

The program thrives on our supportive relationship with the community as well as the parents and guardians. Working closely together with families and keeping communication open ensures the appropriate care of each child's specific needs. We honor the individuality of the children and their unique family roots.  Our preschool incorporates various hands on experiences to encourage the child's curiosity and creativity.  We strive to offer a safe, and inviting atmosphere where children can come together to develop according to their individual needs and interests.  ​

The high school students become well versed in positive guidance techniques along with how to plan, prepare, and implement engaging activities that focus on all areas of development. They are also able to study the children from our observation booth to learn from a different perspective. By running the Playschool Learning Laboratory, these students are working on the development of valuable employment qualities.​
